The Tegeler MythEQ 500 is a powerful 500-series mono equalizer designed to cover everything from clean, musical enhancement to bold, assertive tone shaping. Built as a more flexible and aggressive counterpart to Tegeler’s warmer passive EQ designs, the MythEQ 500 gives you a broad set of frequency options, a wide ±15 dB operating range and the unmistakable analogue character of Tegeler’s in-house transformers.
At the heart of the MythEQ 500 are four EQ bands: low shelf, lower-mid bell, upper-mid bell and high shelf. This layout makes it fast and intuitive to shape the fundamental weight, body, presence and top-end character of a source without overcomplicating the process. Whether you are adding punch to a kick drum, pushing a vocal forward, cleaning up low-mid build-up, bringing out attack in a snare or adding sparkle to guitars and synths, the MythEQ 500 gives you the tools to get there quickly.
Each band offers carefully chosen frequency points, allowing the MythEQ 500 to move comfortably between broad musical shaping and more focused correction. With up to 15 dB of boost or cut available, it can be subtle and refined when required, but it also has enough range to create more dramatic curves when you want a sound to really stand out.
The EQ’s behaviour becomes more focused as you push it harder, with proportional Q on the bell filters. Gentle boosts and cuts stay broad and natural, while stronger adjustments become narrower and more precise. This makes the MythEQ 500 especially useful in real-world mixing, where you may need anything from smooth tonal balancing to more targeted frequency work.
To finish the circuit, Tegeler uses its own transformers to add extra analogue depth, definition and character. These help bring control and solidity to the low end while smoothing the upper frequencies in a natural way. The result is an equalizer that feels flexible and practical, but still carries the tone and personality you expect from dedicated analogue hardware.
Compact, characterful and highly usable, the Tegeler MythEQ 500 is an excellent choice for tracking, mixing and bus processing, giving 500-series users a versatile EQ that can be clean, colourful, precise or aggressive depending on what the source needs.
