Bass is more critical than ever in modern music production, and the Mammut is built to give you total control over the low end. This powerful analog processor is designed to shape, tighten, and enhance frequencies up to 200Hz with unprecedented precision. Whether you need to tame, glue, or add weight, Mammut delivers fast, musical results.
At its core is a compressor/expander with a proprietary detector circuit, carefully engineered to generate just the right harmonics. This ensures low frequencies remain tight and impactful—reducing excessive energy without sacrificing punch or clarity.
Despite its fully analog signal path—no digital conversion anywhere—Mammut offers full remote control via plugin over Ethernet. Instantly recall presets, store settings with your session, and seamlessly integrate multiple units into your workflow with the Hardware Hub software.
Compatible with Windows and macOS, Mammut`s plugin is available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats for Pro Tools. Built with uncompromising attention to detail, every component was carefully selected for the highest fidelity and performance.
Features • Unique 2nd and 3rd order High-pass Filter • Variable Low-Shelf Equalizer • Low band frequency selector • Listen Mode to check low band content and the generated harmonics • Proprietary compressor / expander circuit as the heart of the device • Independent attack and release controls that let you sculpt the sound precisely • Ratio and makeup gain/attenuation • Soft knee switch • Saturation stage with selectable amount of odd (transformer) and even (silicon) harmonics • Switch to move the saturation stage in front of the compressor/expander instead of behind • Relay based Hard Bypass at inputs/outputs to remove the device completely from the signal path • Plugin based remote control and recallability • Custom machined knob hardware • Stereo device by nature, but can be used in dual mono or M/S mode for interesting interactions of the channels
High-Pass Filter Designed with a unique topology, Mammut’s high-pass filter tightens the low end by removing unwanted sub-rumble while preserving and enhancing the essential bass content. This keeps your low frequencies powerful and controlled.
• Bypass switch • Selectable slope: 12dB or 18dB per octave • Frequencies: 16Hz, 21Hz, 26Hz, 31Hz, 34Hz, 44Hz
Variable Low-Shelf EQ Mammut’s custom low-shelf EQ takes a different approach from traditional designs. Instead of a fixed bandwidth, the filter response adapts based on the selected frequency points, giving it a smooth, musical character similar to the classic boost-cut trick found in legendary tube EQs.
With its unique topology, this EQ delivers highly musical shaping, whether you’re reinforcing warmth or carving space. The ability to swap the upper and lower cutoff points adds further flexibility for creating precise tonal curves.
• Low Frequencies: 26Hz, 34Hz, 44Hz, 53Hz, 72Hz, 106Hz • High Frequencies: 26Hz, 34Hz, 44Hz, 53Hz, 72Hz, 106Hz • Gain: -3dB to +3dB in 0.5dB increments
Crossover & Listen Mode Mammut’s crossover filter separates low and high frequencies with absolute precision. Only the selected low-end range is sent through the compressor/expander and saturation circuit, before seamlessly blending back with the rest of the signal. The result? A completely flat crossover response with zero phase issues.
• The 200Hz setting extends processing into the upper low-end, ideal for adding body and cohesion to mixes and instruments. • Settings below 125Hz focus more specifically on sub-bass frequencies. • Listen Mode isolates the processed low end, allowing you to fine-tune compression, expansion, and saturation harmonics with complete accuracy. • Crossover Frequencies: 85Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz, 200Hz
Compressor / Expander At the heart of Mammut lies its precision compressor/expander, designed specifically for low-frequency processing. The proprietary sidechain circuit generates musical harmonics, helping bass elements sit tight in a mix without losing impact.
• Independent attack & release controls allow precise targeting of frequencies, maintaining clarity while reinforcing power. • Hard knee or soft knee options let you tailor the response from surgical to smooth and natural. • Makeup gain acts as a true low-shelf filter, offering countless tonal shaping options when combined with the Variable Shelf EQ. • Expansion mode helps restore lost dynamics and low-end energy, indicated by blue LEDs. • Ratios: 1.25:1, 1.5:1, 2:1, 4:1 (Compression) / 1:1.25, 1:1.5, 1:2, 1:4 (Expansion) • Attack: 0.2ms, 0.75ms, 3ms, 10ms, 20ms, 30ms • Release: 5ms, 15ms, 30ms, 50ms, 100ms, 300ms • Makeup Gain: -6dB to +6dB in 0.5dB steps
Saturation Mammut’s independent saturation stage introduces rich, transformer-based harmonics. Engage it for subtle warmth or push it harder for vintage-style drive.
• Odd-order harmonics naturally enhance presence and definition. • Even-order harmonics (toggle via "2nd Harmonics" button) add a smooth, tube-like warmth. • Flexible positioning allows the saturation to be placed pre- or post-compression for varied sonic textures. • Adjustable saturation intensity lets you shape everything from transparent enhancement to full-bodied analog drive—without affecting overall level.
Custom Hardware & Software Integration Every detail of Mammut is built with precision, from its custom-machined aluminum knobs to its high-end analog components. Despite its fully analog signal path, Mammut integrates seamlessly into modern workflows via its plugin-based control.
• Ethernet-based remote control with instant recall and full session integration. • Hardware Hub software manages multiple units with seamless communication. • Plugin control surface mimics the hardware layout for easy navigation, with real-time gain reduction feedback. • Zero audio processing in the plugin ensures no latency or signal degradation. • Plugin formats: VST3, AU, AAX (Pro Tools)
