The Solid State Logic Revival 4000 Signature Analogue Channel Strip brings the legendary sound of the early 1980s SSL 4000 Series consoles into a modern 1U rack format. Drawing on revered circuitry from both the B and E Series, Revival 4000 captures the unmistakable tone, punch, and flexibility that defined countless classic records by artists such as Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Prince, U2, and Metallica.

At its core, Revival 4000 features the classic E Series JT-115K-E Jensen transformer-balanced mic preamp, delivering warmth, richness, and pristine clarity. The 4000 B-Series De-Esser provides powerful yet musical control of sibilance and harsh frequencies, using a circuit closely related to the legendary SSL Bus Compressor.

The fully-discrete E Series Dynamics Section includes compressor, gate, and expander functionality, with selectable soft/hard knee curves, fast attack, and logarithmic or linear release modes. This faithfully recreates the character of SSL’s discrete Class A VCA design, offering authentic tone shaping for vocals, instruments, or full mixes.

For tonal sculpting, the classic SSL 4-Band Parametric EQ is on board, with a choice of Brown Knob (02) or Black Knob (242) circuits. The Brown EQ provides symmetrical, musical mid-band control, while the Black EQ (developed with George Martin for AIR Studios) offers wider boost/cut, steeper filtering, and enhanced tonal flexibility. High-pass and low-pass filters are included in both modes.

With balanced insert points, flexible processing order, external sidechain input, and sidechain linking for stereo operation, Revival 4000 is as versatile as it is musical. Whether for recording, mixing individual tracks, or working across the mix bus, this channel strip embodies SSL’s analogue legacy in a modern, streamlined design.
