The condenser microphone M 221 combines universal small diaphragm capsule technology with a metal diaphragm and a modular preamplifier. By using a type-tested measurement microphone capsule in combination with a conventional recording techniques preamps with 48V phantom power, a constant amplitude and phase frequency response and particularly long-term stable transmission characteristics are achieved.
The M 221 is due to its small diameter capsule particularly for applications where the least possible influence of the sound field is desired. It is recommended as a main microphone for recordings that should have a certain amount of space as well as a spot microphone for very close miking of instruments, which depend on a faithful transmission of low frequencies. Moreover, it can be used to build multichannel main microphone arrangements like AB stereophony or Decca Tree, for which it is particularly suitable with its precise and long term stable transmission characteristics. By running as a receiver capsule, the M 221-class transient response, and is therefore particularly ideal for holding strong pulse containing instruments. With the two supplied ball essays of varying size can if necessary be an increase in the high frequencies to increase the presence and to compensate for the high tone in the diffuse field generating acoustically.
