The LANG P‑Lane Type 436 from Heritage Audio is a faithful reimagining of the classic Altec 436C compressor, known for its use in legendary Abbey Road recordings of the 1960s. This 2U rackmount unit stays true to the sonic character of the original, while offering updated features for today’s studio workflows.

Inside, it houses a trio of high-quality tubes: one NOS 6H5P, one JJ E88CC, and one NOS 6AL5. These work in tandem with custom input and output transformers to deliver smooth, harmonically rich compression that retains high-frequency detail—ideal for vocals, bass, guitar, strings, and even modern mix bus duties.

The front panel offers six-position stepped controls for Attack, Recovery, and Threshold (DC), with an additional Hold setting for fixed gain reduction and a brand-new SuperFast mode for transient-heavy material. Its ergonomically laid out faceplate includes a classic VU-style gain reduction meter, chicken-head knobs, and jewel-style power indicator.

Connectivity is straightforward and pro-ready, with transformer-balanced XLR and TRS I/O and an integrated worldwide power supply. Built from rugged steel and engineered with both tone and reliability in mind, the LANG P‑Lane Type 436 is a serious tool for engineers who want authentic tube compression with refined modern control.

UK Mainland – Orders over £99 qualify for FREE standard shipping (1-3 working days) We also offer a range of chargeable express shipping options for next working day, pre 12pm, pre 10.30am, Saturday deliveries and deliveries on a specific date. Our main UK courier is DPD.

UK Non Mainland – Not eligible for free shipping. These areas include (but are not limited to) Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Isles of Scilly, Jersey, Guernsey, Northern Ireland, Orkney, Scottish Highlands and Shetland. Shipping costs for these ares will be calculated at checkout.

International/Export – Delivery charges will be calculated at checkout. All orders that are in stock we aim to dispatch from our warehouse within 48 hours. We ship all orders outside of the UK, NI, Isle of Man, Channel Islands via Fedex. All prices and delivery charges are exclusive of VAT for export. The customer is responsible to pay for any additional duties and charges.
