This Zoom PodTrak P4next bundle equips four local contributors for a panel discussion, group podcast or round-table interview. It brings the recorder together with four ZDM-1PMP microphone packs and four ZMA-1 microphone arms. A dedicated dynamic microphone and closed-back headphones for each person make the recording easier to manage than a shared room microphone. The host can concentrate on the discussion while the recorder keeps the voices available for a more considered edit. It is a practical foundation for a recurring show with a full table of participants.

Microphones and monitoring for four recording positions

The package includes one PodTrak P4next, four ZDM-1 microphones and four pairs of ZHP-1 closed-back headphones. Each microphone pack also supplies a tabletop tripod, windscreen and XLR cable. The ZDM-1 dynamic microphone connects to a P4next microphone input using the supplied XLR cable, creating a familiar recording path that can also work with other suitable XLR equipment. Keep each microphone close enough for a clear voice and let the listener hear a short test before beginning the episode.

Put the microphones where people can speak naturally

The four included ZMA-1 arms add more positioning freedom than a small tabletop stand alone. Bring the microphone towards the speaker rather than asking them to lean down to the desk. Check that the mounting surface and arrangement suit the arm, then route the cable with enough slack for adjustment. A repeatable position helps keep voice tone and level consistent between episodes. The tabletop stands supplied in the microphone packs remain useful for another suitable position or a more temporary setup.

Headphone monitoring that respects individual preferences

Four headphone outputs have independent volume controls, so each participant can choose a comfortable listening level. This is especially helpful when headphones differ or one contributor prefers a quieter feed. Monitoring also encourages good microphone technique: a speaker can hear when they turn away, move too close or create a strong plosive. Set the overall recording balance deliberately, then allow personal listening levels to vary. The headphone volume a person prefers should not determine how loudly their voice is recorded in the programme.

Voice tools help prepare the material

The P4next offers voice processing and AI noise reduction to help produce clearer spoken-word recordings. Use processing to support the voice rather than conceal a poor acoustic setup. A quieter room and a microphone close to the speaker remain valuable, particularly when several microphones are open at once. Recording is 24-bit/48kHz, not 32-bit float, and supported multitrack configurations provide up to eleven recorded tracks. Separate recordings give you room to adjust contributors, refine edits and create a balanced final episode after the live conversation has finished.

Sound pads and remote-call options add production value

Four sound pads let you trigger prepared material such as an introduction, a recurring segment cue or a short musical transition. Remote contributors can join through supported USB or smartphone connections, with mix-minus helping prevent their own voice being returned as echo. An optional BTA-2 adapter adds the supported Bluetooth phone connection. Remote sources share the recorder's routing resources, so plan the channel assignment rather than assuming four local microphones and every remote connection are all available independently at once. Test the complete call arrangement before the episode starts.

Prepare a dependable episode workflow

Add a suitable memory card and establish the intended power arrangement before recording. Check every voice at its loudest likely delivery, label the recorded channels and keep a backup after the session. A matching set of microphones and headphones makes the physical setup consistent; a repeatable recording routine makes it dependable. This bundle gives the show a clear starting structure while leaving the individual recordings available for level balancing, selective edits and a more polished final programme.
