The display presents waveforms that help confirm activity on each channel, while headphone monitoring lets you assess the actual sound. Separate headphone and line outputs allow you to listen while sending a feed to another device, such as a camera. The camera path should be checked independently: the F3's float recording does not change the recording limits of the camera receiving its analogue output. A sensible reference level and a short test make it easier to align the separate audio recording with picture afterwards.

Compact on location, useful at the computer

Two AA batteries or USB power provide options for field and fixed work. Recording to microSD lets the F3 capture without a computer, while USB audio interface operation offers two inputs and two outputs at supported rates up to 96kHz. The 192kHz headline applies to standalone recording rather than every USB mode. An optional BTA-1 adapter enables supported wireless functions.
