The Teenage Engineering OP-XY is a portable synthesiser, sampler and sequencer for musicians who build tracks through patterns, variation and performance. The Brain function provides a musical approach to transposition, helping related parts move together as harmonic ideas develop. Patterns, scenes and songs give you a structure for arranging those ideas into longer pieces. You can keep a strong rhythmic foundation in place while changing the melodic context, or move between clearly defined sections during a performance. Shape the performance and connect other gear

Auxiliary tracks extend the system beyond the main instrument parts, including ways to control and interact with external equipment. The multi-out connection supports several roles, including CV/gate, MIDI, sync and auxiliary audio, according to the selected configuration and appropriate cabling. USB-C audio and MIDI host/device functionality, together with Bluetooth MIDI, make OP-XY a practical centre for a compact hybrid setup.

Send effects add space and character, while master processing helps shape the combined result. Punch-in effects provide immediate performance gestures for breaks, transitions and more dramatic transformations. Instead of treating arrangement and effects as jobs to complete after writing, you can bring both into the process from the start.

A built-in microphone, speaker and rechargeable battery make the instrument self-contained for sketching and sampling on the move. When it is time to develop the music further, connect headphones, a mixer or a recording system and continue with the same project.
