The Tantrum Audio Really Mean Sub is an ultra-compact active studio subwoofer designed to deliver deep, tightly controlled low end without the usual difficulties of integrating a subwoofer into a monitoring system. Its dual-opposing, mechanically coupled drivers and feedforward transient correction minimise unwanted movement and overshoot, producing an accurate response that extends down to 15Hz.

Built-in DSP provides intelligent room correction across both the subwoofer and connected monitor outputs. An integrated crossover, adjustable delay and Quick Alignment functionality make it easier to achieve accurate time alignment with virtually any studio monitor, while USB-C app control provides straightforward access to the system’s calibration settings.

Despite measuring just 28cm in each direction, the Really Mean Sub houses 400W of ICEpower amplification and delivers up to 102dB SPL. Its heavily constructed sealed enclosure helps reduce vibration and intermodulation distortion, providing clean, dependable bass reproduction from a remarkably compact cabinet.
