Inspired by the legendary SL 9000 J and perfected in the flagship Duality console, the Super 9000 embodies the qualities that made SSL consoles a benchmark in music production: ultra-low distortion, wide bandwidth, ruler-flat frequency response, and exceptional clarity across the spectrum. It recreates the “larger-than-life” soundstage that made the 9000 Series a favourite of studios like Abbey Road, Metropolis, Real World, and Avatar/Power Station, as well as engineers such as Manny Marroquin, Michael Brauer, Kevin Shirley, and Tony Maserati.

At its core, the Super 9000 features SSL’s dual mic preamp architecture: choose the pristine, high-headroom SuperAnalogue™ preamp for absolute transparency, or engage the Variable Harmonic Drive (VHD) preamp for valve-like warmth, transistor-style edge, and everything in between. With Input Flip, you can also apply harmonic colour to DAW returns and line-level sources, making the Super 9000 just as powerful at the mix stage as it is on tracking.

The dynamics section carries forward SSL’s unmistakable DNA, using the THAT 2181A VCA for compression with selectable Fast Attack, Peak Detect, and Soft/Hard knee modes, plus an expander/gate with variable hysteresis and hold control. Full routing flexibility allows placement pre- or post-EQ.

For tonal shaping, the EQ section offers the choice between two classic SSL designs: the smooth, musical G-Series “Pink Knob” 292 circuit, and the surgical precision of the E-Series “Black Knob” 242 circuit. With frequency-dividing and multiplying options, bell/shelf switching, and high- and low-pass filters, the Super 9000 EQ delivers unrivalled versatility.

Designed for modern hybrid workflows, the Super 9000 provides flexible routing, a balanced insert point, external sidechain input, and stereo linking for paired units.
