The Rupert Neve Designs 551 Inductor EQ Plug-in recreates the character of the 551 hardware equaliser, bringing three bands of musical tone shaping to your DAW. Developed with McDSP, it models the inductors, transformers and class-A gain stages behind a design whose circuitry was originally developed for the Shelford Channel.

Classic EQ character with flexible control

Use the low band to build weight, the 1073-inspired midrange to bring a vocal or instrument into focus, and the high band to add presence and openness. The low and high bands offer shelf or peak operation, while the mid band includes a Hi Q option for more focused adjustments. An 80 Hz high-pass filter helps clear unwanted low-frequency energy.

More options inside your DAW

The software version adds true Mid/Side processing, output adjustment and input/output meters. Use it to shape individual recordings, balance groups or make subtle tonal changes across a stereo mix.

Compatibility and licence

Supplied as a digitally delivered software licence. Supports AAX Native, AU and VST3 hosts, including Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton Live, Reaper and Studio One. Runs natively on Intel and Apple silicon. An iLok account is required, with activation to a compatible iLok 2/3 USB key, a local computer or iLok Cloud. Two activations are included per licence. A USB iLok is not included.
