The Royer R-122 MKII Matched Pair combines two precision-matched active ribbon microphones with a pair of RSM-SS1 Sling-Shock shockmounts, offering a powerful stereo solution for high-fidelity recording environments. The R-122 MKII microphones feature phantom-powered active electronics, providing high output levels and consistent performance across a wide range of preamps. Each microphone includes a switchable -15 dB pad to handle extremely loud sources like electric guitar cabinets or brass, and a low-frequency roll-off to reduce proximity effect and tighten low-end response.

The microphones use Royer’s patented offset-ribbon design, placing the 2.5-micron aluminum ribbon closer to the front grille. This allows for higher SPL handling on the front side while also offering a subtly different voicing on the rear — full and warm on the front, slightly brighter on the back.

The included RSM-SS1 Sling-Shock shockmounts provide exceptional mechanical isolation without elastic bands, ensuring clean recordings even in environments with vibrations or low-frequency noise.
