Product overview

The RME MADIface USB is a compact digital audio interface for connecting MADI-equipped consoles, converters and microphone preamps to a Mac or Windows computer. Offering up to 64 channels of recording and 64 channels of playback over USB 2.0 at 44.1 or 48kHz, it provides a portable solution for multitrack studio recording, live capture and playback systems.

Optical and coaxial MADI connections allow straightforward integration with existing equipment, while RME’s TotalMix FX software provides flexible routing and independent monitor mixes. Both MADI ports can operate simultaneously, giving the internal mixer access to up to 128 inputs and 128 outputs at standard sample rates. USB recording and playback remain at a maximum of 64 channels in each direction.

For live and critical recording applications, Seamless Redundancy automatically switches to the alternative MADI input if the active connection fails. RME’s SteadyClock technology suppresses incoming clock jitter, while DIGICheck software provides comprehensive metering and audio analysis.

With its sturdy enclosure and USB bus power, the MADIface USB fits easily into mobile recording rigs and desktop systems. It also operates as a stand-alone optical/coaxial MADI format converter and active repeater when connected to a suitable USB power supply.
