Product overview

PMC · MAIN MONITOR SERIES

Low-frequency detail with a larger foundation.

PMC12 SUB (Pair). The PMC12 SUB is an independent reference subwoofer built around PMC’s newly developed 12-inch low-frequency driver. It uses the same cabinet platform as the full-range PMC12, configured specifically for bass reproduction without the main monitor’s midrange or tweeter. The combination of ATL loading, LaminairX venting and master36 DSP amplification makes it a flexible low-frequency partner for professional monitoring systems.

LOW-FREQUENCY ENGINEERING

Bass with definition and purpose.

The 12-inch driver uses double-stacked magnets, a three-inch, three-layer voice coil and a highly stable suspension. These elements are designed to maintain linear motor behaviour over an extended excursion range, reducing distortion when the programme demands significant cone movement. For the engineer, the purpose is a bass presentation that remains useful for timing and tonal decisions as level increases.

ATL & LAMINAIRX

An enclosure designed around the driver.

PMC’s Advanced Transmission Line uses the energy from the rear of the bass driver through a carefully controlled internal path, contributing useful low-frequency output at the vent. The cabinet, driver and damping are engineered together, so extension is part of a complete acoustic design. LaminairX shapes airflow at the outlet to reduce turbulence and unwanted air noise, supporting clear bass reproduction when the system is working hard. The result is intended to make low-frequency information easier to judge, from the body of a kick drum to sustained synthesiser notes and the weight of an orchestral recording.

AMPLIFICATION & FILTERING

Control the low-frequency contribution.

A dedicated master36 rack-mounted DSP/amplifier supplies 1,000 W to the PMC12 SUB bass driver. Its Class-D amplification is integrated with DSP high- and low-pass filtering, driver excursion protection and room-alignment EQ. Analogue and digital input support, with digital rates up to 192 kHz, allows the subwoofer to fit into different studio signal paths without changing its role as a dedicated low-frequency reference.

SOUNDALIGN2

Bring the system into your room.

SoundAlign2 provides browser-based access to the PMC electronics over a wired Ethernet network. From a PC or Mac on the studio LAN, the engineer or installer can reach the system’s alignment controls and room EQ. Keeping these adjustments accessible is useful when refining placement, balancing levels or integrating the loudspeakers into a larger monitoring layout. Electronic alignment works alongside appropriate positioning and acoustic treatment; the system can be tailored to the room and the way it is used.

INSTALLATION & EXPANSION

Specify the system around your work.

A dedicated subwoofer can support low-frequency monitoring, bass-managed systems or an appropriately configured LFE channel. Its crossover settings, level and placement should be selected for the main loudspeakers and room. A two-unit setup gives the system designer additional placement options, but the final arrangement still needs careful alignment. SX Pro can help establish which cabinet and electronics configuration suits the intended installation.
