Product overview

ONTHEMOON · SPACECRAFT

Sculpt the stereo picture.

Bring width, depth and focus to a mix with the OnTheMoon Spacecraft. This 1U analogue spatial processor combines practical mid/side control with Mathew Lane’s distinctive SPACE section, giving recording, mixing and mastering engineers a hands-on way to shape the relationship between the centre and edges of a stereo image.

MID & SIDE

Work on the centre.
Shape the edges.

Adjust WIDTH from mono through the original stereo image to a wider presentation. The SIDE high-pass filter brings low frequencies towards mono, helping keep bass centred while retaining space further up the spectrum.

Separate balanced inserts let your own EQs and compressors work on MID and SIDE independently. Use the returns for mid/side decoding, or isolate the individual sections to hear what is changing.

THE SPACE SECTION

Explore width, depth and interaction.

01 / ZOOM + FOCUS

Find a new perspective.

ZOOM creates stereo information from the mono component. FOCUS changes how that contribution interacts with the rest of the signal, opening up another way to bring definition and separation to a busy mix.

02 / DEPTH + DISTANCE

Shape the sense of depth.

DEPTH builds new mono information from the stereo component. Use it to explore front-to-back perspective, support mono compatibility or add cohesion. DISTANCE adjusts the interaction; with MID CUT engaged, the SPACE section can take the place of the original centre.

03 / FEEDBACK

Add body or go further.

FEEDBACK crossfeeds ZOOM and DEPTH when both are in use. Subtle settings add fullness; stronger combinations can create pronounced spatial effects and reverb-like textures.

LISTEN & COMPARE

Make the decision with your ears.

Use the MID, SIDE and SPACE controls to audition the contributions individually. The main GAIN control allows level-matched comparisons, while the IN switch gives a full bypass reference.

For mix-bus refinement, start with small adjustments and check the result in mono. For sound design or remix work, explore the interaction between ZOOM, DEPTH and FEEDBACK. The same controls can move from subtle enhancement to deliberately creative effects.

STUDIO CONNECTIONS

Fit it into your analogue chain.

Stereo inputs and outputs, plus the MID and SIDE insert sends and returns, use balanced Neutrik XLR connections at professional +4 dBu line level. The rear panel also carries the IEC mains inlet and 115/230 V selector.

FOCUS and DISTANCE use digitally controlled analogue delay circuits, with short stepped delays from 1–10 ms. At their minimum positions the delay circuits are removed from the signal path.

Explore Spacecraft.

Supplied as one Spacecraft processor. External outboard for the inserts is sold separately. Available to order for UK customers; contact SX Pro for the latest delivery estimate.
