Product overview

Modal CARBON8M is an eight-voice experimental synthesiser in a desktop and rack-mount module format. Explore metallic attacks, shifting digital textures and expressive synthetic timbres. A choice of algorithmic and wavetable oscillator cores, combined with X-CORE modulation, makes this an inviting instrument for producers who enjoy building distinctive sounds from the ground up.

Use your preferred MIDI keyboard or sequencer and keep the sound engine within easy reach. Included rack ears support 19-inch, 3U mounting; allow space above the unit for connections.

A polyphonic sequencer, parameter animation and programmable arpeggiator support evolving patterns. Three stereo effects engines complete the sound, and MODALapp provides computer, mobile and plug-in editing.

Stereo line outputs (2 × 6.35 mm TS); 6.35 mm TRS headphones; 3.5 mm stereo audio input; MIDI DIN in/out; USB MIDI; 3.5 mm clock sync in/out; sustain and expression pedal inputs.
