Product overview

McDSP 4040 Retro Limiter v7 is a limiter. Control peaks while adding a vintage-inspired finish to tracks and mixes. The 4040 pairs brickwall limiting with McDSP’s distinctive output-stage design, making it useful on transient-heavy material as well as a stereo mix.

Peak control with character

Use it to contain drum hits, settle vocal peaks or bring a bus into focus. Up to 36 dB of gain provides ample adjustment, while the clear controls let you concentrate on how the limiting changes the sound.

Compatibility and licence

Choose the edition for your workflow. Native supports AAX Native, AU and VST3. HD includes those formats and adds AAX DSP support for compatible Pro Tools hardware. Both editions run on macOS and Windows and are supplied as digital software licences.

An iLok account is required. Two activations are provided, with iLok 2/3 USB and iLok Cloud options; current v7 installers also support machine-based activation. Use version 7.3.0 or later for machine activation.
