Product overview
One switch for your rack, with power protection and useful lighting
The Furman PL-8 C E is a 10A rack power conditioner for studios, instrument rigs and live sound systems. It brings multiple pieces of equipment onto one accessible front-panel power switch, while adding surge protection, mains noise filtering and pull-out LED lights in a single rack space.
A simpler way to start and finish a session
Connect your preamps, compressors, effects and other compatible equipment to the rear outlets, and you can switch the rack together without reaching behind each unit. Ten rear IEC outlets keep the permanent connections together, while a front outlet is convenient for temporarily connecting another device.
This works with equipment designed to start when mains power is applied. The outlets switch together; for an audio system, turn monitors or power amplifiers on last and off first. If you want that order handled automatically, a Furman sequencer is the more suitable option.
Help with interference and mains spikes
Switching power supplies, dimmers and other electrical equipment can put unwanted high-frequency noise onto the mains. Furman's Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) reduces noise travelling through the power supply, which can help when mains-borne interference is reaching your audio equipment. Separate filtered outlet banks also help reduce noise passing between connected components.
Series Multi-Stage Protection (SMP) suppresses transient surges and spikes. Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS) disconnects the outlets during a sustained excessive-voltage condition. These address different problems: short spikes and prolonged overvoltage.
The audible benefit of filtering depends on the source of the problem. Ground-loop hum, faulty audio cables and interference picked up by signal wiring need to be addressed in those parts of the system.

Two retractable LED lamps illuminate the equipment below, with a dimmer to set a comfortable brightness. A rear BNC lamp connector accepts an optional gooseneck light, useful when tracing connections behind the rack. Protection and extreme-voltage indicators provide a quick status check.
The PL-8 C E provides power distribution, filtering and protection. It does not regulate the mains voltage or provide battery backup during a power cut.
