Furman P1400 AR E

More consistent mains voltage for sensitive studio and live equipment

The Furman P-1400 AR E combines a 6A voltage regulator with power conditioning and eleven rack power outlets. It is intended for systems where the incoming voltage varies, adding active correction of the supply alongside surge protection, noise filtering and the convenience of a front-panel master switch.

Help equipment cope with a fluctuating supply

A mains supply that dips or rises can cause problems for equipment whose power supply cannot accommodate the change. Depending on the device, that might mean unreliable operation, unexpected resets or a change in performance. The P-1400 AR E uses a microprocessor-controlled toroidal autoformer to adjust the incoming voltage towards a selectable 230V or 240V output.

This makes it useful for a studio with recurring voltage variation or a mobile rack that works at different locations. Within its regulation range, the specified output tolerance is ±10V. The regulation window depends on the selected output: the manual lists approximately 182–262V input for the 230V setting, and 188–270V for the 240V setting.

One place to connect and switch the rack

Ten rear outlets accommodate permanent connections, with a front outlet available for a temporary device. All eleven receive regulation, filtering and surge protection. Compatible equipment can be switched together from the front of the rack, so you can avoid reaching for multiple individual power switches.

The outlets are not sequenced. Turn monitors or amplifiers on last and off first, and complete any computer shutdown before removing mains power. The digital meter switches between incoming voltage and total current draw, helping you keep an eye on both the supply and the connected load.

Filtering and protection alongside regulation

LiFT reduces high-frequency noise travelling through the mains, while separate outlet banks help limit interference between connected devices. This can help when electrical noise is entering through the power supply; ground-loop hum and signal-cable faults need to be addressed elsewhere in the system.

SMP suppresses transient spikes and surges. EVS disconnects the outlets if the incoming voltage becomes excessively high. Regulation manages voltage variation within its working range, while these protection circuits address spikes and more extreme conditions.

Allow for the manual's reduced current capacity at low input voltages when sizing the rack. The P-1400 AR E has no battery backup and does not change mains frequency: it cannot keep equipment running when the incoming power disappears.
