Product overview
The Chandler Limited RS660 (Stepped Controls) is a mono valve compressor and limiter with stepped input and output controls included. It combines the character of classic Abbey Road dynamics processing with repeatable settings for tracking, mixing and mastering.
Stepped controls for repeatable settings
This version includes the stepped input and output controls that are optional on the standard RS660. Fixed positions make settings easier to document and recall between sessions, and help you match control positions when working with two units.
Three ways to shape your sound
Choose COMP for smoother, more controlled compression, LIMIT for a faster, more assertive response, or THD to add valve colour and harmonic distortion without compression or limiting. From vocal levelling to drums, bass and guitars, the RS660 offers a broad range of character from a straightforward control set.
Abbey Road heritage
Developed from ideas behind the EMI RS124 and Fairchild 660, the RS660 uses a 6386 valve at the heart of its variable-mu circuit. Seven time-constant positions combine attack and release settings, ranging from lively transient control to slower, gentler behaviour.
Ready for the studio
Transformer-balanced XLR input and output connections, switchable 200/600-ohm output impedance and an internal power supply are housed in a 2U rack chassis. A second RS660 can be connected via the quarter-inch link socket for stereo operation; each unit retains its own controls.
Supplied as one mono compressor with stepped input and output controls. A second unit and link cable are required for stereo use. The internal power supply means no external Chandler PSU-1 is needed.
For the continuously variable version, see the standard RS660. For a stereo setup, see the RS660 Matched Pair.
