A rack-mounted clock and distribution centre for a substantial digital studio.

Fourteen outputs across four formats

Eight BNC connections, two AES outputs, two coaxial S/PDIF outputs and two optical S/PDIF outputs give Revolution Clock XC the connection capacity for a larger system. Interfaces, converters and other compatible digital devices can share an organised reference without depending on a long chain of clock-through connections.

Macro-MMC and Suspended Oscillation

The XC combines Black Lion Audio’s Macro-MMC architecture with its Suspended Oscillation design. The oscillators are mechanically isolated using a specially developed damping arrangement, intended to reduce the effect of environmental vibration on timing. This is paired with MEMS oscillator technology in a dedicated rack unit.

Master clock or distributor

A BNC external clock input allows the XC to follow an existing reference as well as generate its own. That makes it useful in a studio which already has a preferred master clock but needs more distribution options. The output formats have different maximum rates: BNC reaches 384 kHz, AES and coaxial S/PDIF 192 kHz, and optical S/PDIF 96 kHz.

Designed around the whole system

The 1U format places clock selection alongside your converters and interfaces. Plan the receiving formats, use the appropriate cabling and confirm sync on every destination before tracking. For a room with several racks of digital equipment, the XC provides a single place to manage timing while leaving each device free to perform its own recording, conversion or processing role.
