One sound across a larger session

B12A Quad extends the B12A approach to four channels, with Cinemag transformers and up to 70 dB of gain. It is a natural fit for a compact drum setup, a group of percussion microphones or several performers recorded at once. The circuit’s fast response is useful when you want rhythmic detail and attack to remain prominent.

Adjust each source independently

Stepped gain, individual output controls and per-channel metering make it straightforward to establish the recording level at the hardware. Phantom power, polarity switching and 18 dB pads provide the controls needed for different microphones and source levels. You can explore more preamp drive on one channel without forcing the rest of the session into the same setting.

Microphone and direct recording

Four rear XLR microphone inputs provide the main recording connections, with front DI inputs on channels 1 and 2 for direct instruments. XLR and TRS outputs offer flexibility when wiring to a converter, interface or patchbay. Keeping these routes available helps the preamp serve different sessions without a full rack rewire.

Four channels in one rack space

The 1U enclosure makes efficient use of a studio or mobile rack. It is a useful expansion when a single-channel character preamp has become central to your recordings and you want that approach across more sources. Use it as the front end of a converter system or alongside the built-in preamps of your existing interface.
