Product overview
Eight Auteur preamps, analogue inserts and ADAT conversion in one expandable recording front end.
Track a larger session
Auteur 8DAT combines eight microphone, line and instrument channels with Cinemag transformers. Each channel has its own phantom-power, polarity and pad controls, making it possible to accommodate a mixed microphone setup. The 10–66 dB gain range and individual metering help you build a consistent recording level across drums, instruments or a group of performers.
Add analogue processing before conversion
DB25 insert sends and returns give external compressors and equalisers a place in the recording path. Switching the inserts from the front panel makes it easier to compare the processed signal with the unprocessed version. Keeping those hardware routes wired into a patchbay can turn a collection of outboard into an efficient tracking system.
Analogue and digital studio connections
Analogue XLR outputs support connection to a mixer or separate converter, while ADAT provides a route into a compatible recording interface. Conversion supports up to 24-bit/192 kHz; the number of channels available over ADAT depends on sample rate and the optical connections in use. Check the receiving interface’s capabilities when planning high-rate sessions.
Keep the recording rig coordinated
Macro-MMC clocking and BNC word-clock connectivity allow the 8DAT to work as part of a synchronised digital system. The 2U format combines the preamps, conversion and routing controls in one place. It is a practical choice when you need substantial microphone expansion but also want access to analogue processing and outputs, rather than a digital-only preamp box.
