Avid Pro Tools Ultimate

Pro Tools Ultimate is Avid’s most extensive Pro Tools edition for large music sessions, sound design and audio post-production. It is designed for work in which the size of the session, picture workflow and delivery requirements need to be considered together. Dialogue, effects, music and mix automation can be managed within one production environment, helping maintain a clear relationship between the editorial decisions and the final soundtrack.

Detailed sound and picture work

The editing environment supports precise work on performances and recorded sound. Small changes to timing, transitions and clip levels can be assessed against the rest of the session, which matters when a soundtrack contains many overlapping elements. For post-production, the ability to organise substantial sessions helps separate dialogue, sound effects and music while preserving a consistent project structure. Ultimate is also the Pro Tools edition to consider for compatible HDX or HD Native systems; the relevant hardware is purchased separately.

A platform for complex mixes

Advanced routing, automation and immersive mixing facilities give engineers room to build and refine complex productions. Supported versions include the Dolby Atmos renderer, while picture-related tools help keep editorial and mix decisions tied to the programme. The software remains equally useful for demanding music work: a large track count and detailed organisation can accommodate layered arrangements, alternate material and extensive processing without forcing a simplified project structure.

• New perpetual licence: A new perpetual licence. The core software licence does not expire. Future releases, subscription extras and support depend on the update/support entitlement included with the licence.
• New 1-year subscription: A new subscription providing 12 months of software access, paid upfront. Continued use after the term requires a further subscription. It is not a renewal of an existing licence or a monthly payment arrangement with SX Pro.
• 1-year subscription renewal: For an eligible existing reseller-purchased subscription to this same product and edition. Subscriptions bought directly from avid.com cannot use this reseller renewal code. Redeem within Avid’s renewal window; its current guidance allows a 14-day grace period after expiry. This does not renew a perpetual licence’s update plan.

Education licences, team licences, perpetual upgrades/update plans and crossgrades have separate listings with their own qualifying requirements.

Compatibility and delivery

Before installation, check the manufacturer’s current compatibility information for the software release you intend to use, including the operating system, processor, memory and any connected equipment. Compatibility with a particular computer or plug-in cannot be inferred from the product name alone. Keep a record of the registered entitlement and use the same account when managing subsequent updates or renewals.

Digitally delivered software licence. No physical box, computer, audio interface, storage system or other hardware is supplied. An Avid account and the applicable iLok authorisation are required. Follow the redemption instructions supplied with the code; available activation methods depend on the product and software version.
