The API 550b expands the classic 550 equaliser into four bands while retaining its switched frequencies and proportional-Q response. It is a flexible 500 Series tone-shaping tool for tracking and mixing, capable of broad musical moves or more focused correction without sounding clinical.

The controls are laid out for fast, repeatable tonal decisions during tracking or mixing, with enough range for both subtle balance changes and more deliberate shaping.
