Product overview

The API 550A is a three-band discrete equaliser based on the EQ fitted to early API consoles. Its proportional-Q curves become narrower as boost or cut is increased, allowing broad tonal shaping and focused correction from the same controls, while switched frequencies make settings easy to recall.

The controls are laid out for fast, repeatable tonal decisions during tracking or mixing, with enough range for both subtle balance changes and more deliberate shaping.
